Holiday homes with a fireplace or wood stove
A fireplace or wood stove turns a rainy day into the best moment of your stay. It matters whether it is an open fire or a closed stove, and whether you have to bring wood yourself.

Below you will find homes with a fireplace or a wood stove. The listing page shows under facilities that there is one. The rest, such as the wood and the rules for using it, you ask the owner.
What to look for
- Ask whether wood comes with the home and how much. A basket for one evening is not the same as a supply for the whole weekend.
- Ask whether the fireplace or stove may actually be used. Sometimes it is there for atmosphere and is out of use.
- Bring firelighters and matches, or ask whether they are provided. Dry wood and a good draught keep the fire pleasant and the room free of smoke.
- If you travel with small children or a dog, ask about a fireguard or a stove with a glass door.
Frequently asked questions
Is the firewood included in the price?
That differs per home. Sometimes a first supply is ready, sometimes you buy wood nearby or bring your own. Ask in your request, especially for a long stay.
What is the difference between a fireplace and a wood stove?
A fireplace is an open fire. A wood stove is closed, usually gives more heat and is safer with children. The photos of the home show which of the two it is.
Can I heat the home with it?
Usually it is an addition and not the only heating. The home's features say whether there is also regular heating. If it is not listed, ask when you come in the cold months.
What do I do with the ashes?
Leave the ashes in the fireplace or stove until they are completely cold, and ask where they should go. Many owners prefer to do it themselves, others leave it to you.
