Holiday homes with a sauna

A sauna at your holiday home means you can warm up after a long walk or a cold day without leaving the house. It does matter whether the sauna is private or one you share with other guests.

Below you will find homes with a private sauna and homes with a shared one. The listing page shows under facilities which of the two it is, so you do not have to ask separately.

What to look for

  • Ask how long the sauna takes to heat up. It is often an hour or more, so do not plan it for just before dinner.
  • Ask whether it is wood-fired, electric or infrared. With wood, someone has to light the stove and firewood has to be there.
  • Bring towels and sandals, or ask whether the owner provides them. The bed linen is usually not meant for this.
  • A shared sauna often has set hours or a booking system. Ask before you arrive, especially if you travel as a group.

Frequently asked questions

Is the sauna private or shared?

It is listed under the facilities of each home. A private sauna is used only by your own party, a shared one with other guests. The listing page tells you which of the two it is.

Is use of the sauna included in the price?

That differs per home. If there is a cost with the price or under extra costs, you see it there. If nothing is listed, ask in your request.

Can children use the sauna?

The owner decides, often with a minimum age or only with an adult present. Say in your request who you are travelling with, so you know before you arrive.

Can I use the sauna in every season?

A sauna inside the house usually, all year round. If it is outdoors, the period may be limited. Ask the owner if you are coming in a particular month.
