What to look for
- Ask about the minimum stay in these weeks. Many owners ask for a week or more, which decides whether your request fits.
- Work out how much firewood two weeks needs, and whether it is in the price or charged separately.
- Ask whether the home is well heated without the fireplace. In frost, the regular heating has to do most of the work.
- Look at the kitchen and the dining table. For a long stay with several guests, a good hob and a table that seats everyone matter more than you think.

Is the home free between Christmas and New Year?
You only see that once you pick dates. This page shows homes that suit this period, not homes that are free. Your request goes to the owner, who tells you whether it works.
Do I have to stay the whole period?
The owner decides. Some ask for a minimum of a week or more in these weeks, others allow shorter stays. It is listed in the stay rules of the home, or just ask.
Is the home warm when it freezes?
A fireplace or stove is usually an addition, not the only source. Ask about the other heating and whether the home is also lived in during winter, so you know what to expect.
Can I reach the home in snow or ice?
Ask the owner about access: a paved drive, parking at the house, a steep road. It is rarely fully described and it really matters in winter.
