Jacques and Sonia Robaux welcome you into their house just outside the village of Floreffe, in green and quiet surroundings. This is a bed and breakfast with two rooms, not a hotel. You are staying in someone's home and breakfast is served at the table. Upstairs there is a spacious room with a double bed of 180 by 200 centimetres and a single bed, sleeping three, with a private adjoining bathroom with bath, washbasin and toilet. On the ground floor there is a second room with a double bed of 160 by 200 for two people, with its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Bath linen is provided in both rooms. Each room has a television and the house has wifi. If you travel with a baby or a toddler, a cot, a playpen and a high chair are available. Breakfast is included in the price, savoury as well as sweet, with homemade jam. The room can also be booked without breakfast, in which case the rate goes down. Floreffe lies between Namur and the Meuse valley, barely three kilometres from two things worth seeing. Floreffe Abbey was founded in 1121 by Norbert of Gennep, at the request of the counts of Namur. Close by are the Floreffe caves with their rock formations. The citadel of Namur is nine kilometres away, a fortress that once covered eighty hectares and was among the largest in Europe. In the Meuse valley itself you will find the collegiate church of Dinant twenty kilometres away, the strawberry museum in Wépion and the archaeological museum in Namur. For dinner you do not have to travel far. Floreffe itself has La Romance, a brasserie serving traditional cooking, La Forge for French and varied dishes, Baromètre for homemade croquettes, meatballs and grills, and Emulsion, a bistronomic address in the heart of the village. Jacques and Sonia are happy to point you the way. These addresses say who this house suits: walkers and cyclists exploring the Meuse valley, visitors to the abbey, and anyone looking for a quiet night between two stages. For a group or a long stay with your own kitchen this is not the place, because here you are staying in someone's home. The rooms are non-smoking and pets are not allowed in the house. Payment is made on site and credit cards are not accepted.
