De Wolvenput is a holiday home furnished in the spirit of times past, with every comfort of today. It owes its name to the Wolveputtehoek, the way this corner of Dentergem was recorded in the land register before 1800. Arriving here, you quickly see why people come back: it is quiet, the house sits among green meadows, and nothing is in a hurry. Inside you will find an open living room with a seating area, a desk and the warmth of a wood stove. The kitchen is country style and fully equipped, with dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, cooker with oven, microwave, grill, kettle and coffee machine. Everything is there to cook for yourself, even for a party of six. There are two bedrooms, the Lavendelkamer and the Rozenkamer. Each has a double bed and its own washbasin, and on the mezzanine above there is a double sofa bed, an armchair and a flat screen. Parents and children sleep close together without being on top of each other. The bathroom has a washbasin and a walk-in shower, and the toilet is separate. Outside is where the holiday really begins. The covered terrace looks out over a flower garden where butterflies and bees feel at home. There is a vegetable and herb garden, a meadow with sheep and chickens, a petanque court and a lounge area for late evenings. Children have play equipment outdoors and a separate playroom inside for rainy days. De Wolvenput lies at the meeting point of the Leiestreek, the Brugse Ommeland and the Flemish Ardennes, barely thirty kilometres from Ghent, Bruges and Kortrijk. You are surrounded by countryside and still half an hour from three historic cities. Free bicycles are ready in the bike shed and walking maps of the area are in the house. If you go out by car, you park on the property. What sets this house apart from other holiday homes in the region is the combination of rural quiet with a garden that is genuinely alive. The sheep and chickens are not scenery, and the herb garden is tended. Conviviality, peace and hospitality are the owners' own words, and it shows in the details. The house sleeps six and is rented to holidaymakers only, not to work crews.
