Aan de Blankaart sits on the edge of Woumen, six hundred metres from the nature reserve the house is named after. It is a house for groups who want to be together without living on top of each other. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a garden where fifteen people spread out easily. Inside, fifteen people sleep across five bedrooms. Three bathrooms keep the morning free of queues. The kitchen is set up for a group, with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine and kettle. There is a washing machine and a dryer, which helps on a longer stay. The bedrooms have blackout curtains and extra pillows and blankets. For the youngest guests there is a cot, a high chair and a stair gate. The house has wifi, air conditioning, heating and a smart TV for an evening indoors. A storage room, an iron with board and plenty of hangers mean a week here does not feel like camping. The heated outdoor pool is open from 15 April to 15 October. Beside the pool are a private hot tub and a sauna, and indoors there is an infrared sauna as well. A fitness room is available for anyone who wants to keep their routine. The garden is large and wooded, with a tree house, a trampoline, a sandpit, play equipment and a play meadow. For quieter moments there are the terrace, the balcony, garden furniture and loungers. There is also a barbecue, a table football, a boules court and a sports field. The De Blankaart nature reserve is within walking distance, six hundred metres from the door. Diksmuide is just under six kilometres away. The coast takes about half an hour, with Nieuwpoort and Koksijde some twenty kilometres away. Ypres is a quarter of an hour by car with Bellewaerde close by, and Plopsaland in De Panne takes a good half hour. Bruges is a trip of roughly thirty-five kilometres. The surrounding region is the Westhoek, with the river IJzer running through Diksmuide and cycling and walking routes starting close to the reserve. What sets this house apart from most large holiday homes in the region is its accessibility. There is a lift and an adapted toilet, so a group with someone who walks with difficulty does not have to give it a miss. The grounds have parking and a charging point for an electric car. The house is set up to be child safe. One house rule from the owner: after half past ten it stays quiet outside, out of respect for the neighbours and the nature reserve. Bookings start from two nights, with arrival on Monday, Thursday or Friday.
