Le Castelain

Le Castelain is a former sawmill at the end of a dead-end road, between the Ardennes and the Gaume. The building has kept its character: exposed beams, warm Gaume stone and period machinery left where it stood. The renovation preserved all of it and set modern comfort alongside. This is a place for two. The living space is a single room. On one side the open kitchen, on the other a reading corner with two armchairs, a table with four chairs and a flat-screen television. The kitchen has dishes, a combination microwave oven, a fridge, a coffee machine, a Smeg kettle, champagne glasses and Orval glasses. Wifi, air conditioning and Netflix are included. The bedroom has a bed of 180 by 200 and its own television. In one corner stands a copper bathtub, where an evening is as pleasant as in the armchair. The bathroom next door has a walk-in shower, a hair dryer and a towel warmer. The wellness area has a sauna and a jacuzzi, with two armchairs and a small table between them, looking out over the preserved features of the old sawmill. The order the owners recommend is the sauna first, then the jacuzzi. Outside there is a terrace with a table and four chairs. On arrival, more than the key is waiting for you: bed linen, bathrobes, bath towels, soap and shower gel, still and sparkling water, coffee, tea, milk and sugar. There is a private parking space. You can let yourself in or be welcomed in person. You can also order ahead: breakfast, a bottle of champagne, flowers from Floranne or a massage. Gift vouchers exist for anyone who wants to give this stay to someone. Sainte-Cécile lies in the south of Luxembourg province, between Florenville and Bouillon. The castle of Bouillon is a classic of the area, and CapNature offers kayaking, rafting and climbing. The region has walking and cycling paths, and horse riding is available. Practical: arrival is after 6 pm, with a welcome until 7 pm if you give a quarter of an hour's notice. Departure is before 11 am. By train, Brussels to Libramont takes 2h20, then the bus to Florenville 40 minutes.
