Griffioen Home

Griffioen Home is a 54 m² houseboat on the Plassendale canal in Nieuwpoort, in the harbour area of Westhoek Marina. The boat is moored to the quay: you don't sail it, you live on the water. From the terrace you look out over the polders, and it is so quiet that you easily stay outside for hours. On board The houseboat is set up for two people. The living room and kitchen form one open living space, with a smart TV and a De Sede sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle. The table is height-adjustable: low for a drink by the sofa, high for dinner. You sleep in a 1.60 m double bed that is free on both sides, so each of you gets in and out on your own side. The adjoining bathroom has a large shower, a washbasin and a marine toilet. There is wifi, heating and a fan for warmer days, plus extra pillows and blankets. Two terraces Downstairs, at the bow, is the terrace by the water. On top of the boat is a large roof terrace, sheltered from wind and prying eyes. Both have garden furniture, and on the roof terrace you will also find a lounger. So you choose whether to have breakfast right by the water or a little higher up, with the view over the polders. Arriving The houseboats are on a private dirt road closed off by a barrier. You receive the code in advance, so your arrival time is flexible and you check in yourself. You park next to the boat. The harbour master asks you not to drive faster than 20 km/h on that road so it stays in good condition. When you arrive, your bed is made and the towels are ready for you. Good to know Griffioen Home suits a maximum of two people, no children. Pets are not allowed. You can book from one night, and from seven nights the weekly rate applies. Bed and bath linen and the cleaning after your stay are charged per stay, the tourist tax per person per night. These amounts are already included in the price we show. Next to Griffioen Home lies its smaller brother, the Tiny Griffin. Both boats sit quietly on a private road, away from through traffic.
