Kleastermar is a Frisian farmhouse from 1909 in the middle of Eastermar, a village surrounded by water between the Bergumermeer and De Leijen lakes. The building has been a group accommodation since 1996. Roos and Ary Koning took it over in 2018 and refurbished it. The name comes from the Frisian word for monastery: the previous owner housed groups from the Carmelite monastery in Drachten here. The house sleeps 25, and up to 30 on request. There are twelve bedrooms, so nobody has to sleep in a dormitory, and six bathrooms with seven toilets in total. The large living areas on the ground floor sit under the old beams, with three lounge corners and long dining tables. The kitchen is built for cooking for a big group: two dishwashers, two ovens, three fridges, a freezer, six gas burners, a bain-marie and a double coffee maker. Indoors you will find a pool table, a table tennis table, table football and a Dutch shuffleboard (sjoelbak), plus board games, books and a projector screen (the projector can be rented). The large garden is fully fenced, with a volleyball net, a korfball post, football goals and five slides. For the little ones there are two cots, two high chairs, a baby bath, a changing mat, a stair gate and ride-on toys. The house is heated with heat pumps. Parking is free: eight cars next to the house and another eight in the car park across the road. A charging point for electric cars is two minutes away. Around Eastermar you can walk, cycle, fish and sail as much as you like. SUP boards and canoes can be rented on site, there is a boat rental in the village and bikes are delivered to the door. Pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. Burgum (8 km) has a climbing park and a bowling alley, Drachten (14 km) an indoor pool, and in Eernewoude (14 km) you can sail on a skûtsje, the traditional Frisian sailing barge. Kleastermar is let to families, groups of friends, companies, clubs, choirs and brass bands.
